Because of the way integrative medicine has developed, health care providers may agree that it is the model to be followed, but there is not much uniformity of practice. A major initiative of The Bravewell Collaborative is the establishment of best practices documentation, for the dual purpose of enhancing patient care and speeding the advancement of integrative medicine. Best Practices reports have been developed for a number of diverse areas, including business models, intake and assessment forms, and pain management.
About the author: Steve Amoils, MD, is board-certified in family medicine with additional certification in pain management. He is also a trained acupuncturist and has traveled the world, studying various healing techniques. A national leader in the promotion of integrative medicine, Dr. Amoils serves as Medical Director of the Alliance Institute for Integrative Medicine. He is also co-founder and current President of the Ohio Chapter of the American Academy of Medical Acupuncture.
